Our old friends Down
Trodden String Band gave us a great evening, as always. No
representatives from Well Heeled Appalachian Dancers this time but that
gave us more opportunity to concentrate on the remarkable musicianship
and harmonious voices.

The
Keltones made their first appearence and put
on a great show. Drummer Dave lives at Grindleford and travelling
home one
evening, he found himself on the Folk Train. Realising what
a great night out it was he offered
the services of The Keltones - and aren't we glad he did!

Once again, Bernard Cromarty demonstrated his
ability to captivate the Folk Train audience single handed. He grabbed
the attention of our sometimes boisterous audience right from the start.

With the Folk
and Blue Grass Music Soc, who brought along The Mother Folkers, we had two bands
for the
price of one - three if you include solo singer Sam - and a huge audience.

More
Mobile Music for Malcolm. The group of excellent Sheffield folk
performers, put together by our good friend Dave Young, donated all the
proceeds to the same charities - mainly MacMillan Nurses - that
benefited from our Mobile Music for
Malcolm event last October

I've lost count of how often Sheffield City Morris Men have
appeared on the Folk Train - every June for some years - but it's an
indulgence on my part, being a member of the group!

BellaRoots
first appeared on the Folk Train as m_c_cajun
in July 1999 and have always put on a great show, this one being no
exception.

Not a balmy summer evening and, although
it kept fine, al fresco
proved a little too chilly as the evening wore on and The New Orleans Strollers retreated
to the pub. Nevertheless, a fantastic evening was had by all.

With the start of the University term we
had a packed
house! Crazy Crow
were also up in numbers with my old pal Mike Lydiat added on guitar and
Wyn as guest bodhran player.

Despite not
being able to
turn out as big a line-up as usual, Wholesome
Fish put on a great show. We even had a
short interlude al fresco,
for those who couldn't get near the band
inside the pub.

I wasn't there
for Jack's Rake second
appearance on the Folk Train but judging by their first, it must
have been a great evening.
I made a Newsletter appeal for pictures but the response was
disappointing. Thanks to Trevor Seiles for these.

Our good friends
Scuppered did
us proud again.
We had a bit of an adventure on the return journey. The train came to a
screeching halt just after Totley tunnel. The signal ahead had
changed from green to red as we approached - not a thing that's
supposed to happen.
