June 2007 The
Folk Train was cancelled. At 3:30 pm the National Rail
enquiries website was still
reporting that the situation with Northern Rail was that the Sheffield
- Grindleford service was suspended. Customers were advised not to travel.
I was aware that the only service operating out of Sheffield was the
local service up the Hope Valley but I believed that it would be
irresponsible to use our usual train, firstly because we might be
occupying space required by those
requiring to travel urgently - London passengers were going via
Manchester - and secondly, because there was no
guarantee that there would be no disruption to our return journey.
