The day after the big flood.
At 3:30 pm the National rail
enquiries website was still
reporting that the situation with Northern Rail was that the Sheffield
- Grindleford service was suspended. Customers were advised not to travel.
I am aware of limited services operating between Sheffield and
Manchester but I believe that it would be irresponsible to use one of
these, firstly because we might be occupying space required by those
requiring to travel urgently and secondly, because there is no
guarantee that there would be no disruption to our return journey.
Here's a
picture of The Farfield by Hillfoot Bridge.
The river should be flowing under the bridge to the left.
